Intensive
If you need to get on the road fast you'll need to ask about our highly popular intensive courses. With a structured intensive course, you could have a full driving licence sooner than you think!
Learn to Drive
With plenty of lessons and practice with your Weelz instructor, you'll be fully prepared to pass your test . . . if you try to rush and take it faster than you can really learn the skills involved, you face the risk of not passing and having to take the test again . . .
Learn at your pace, and always ask your instructor for advice
Driving Licences
You need to get a Provisional Licence before you can drive a car. If you have an old style paper licence you also need to sign it (photocard licences already include your signature). You can get an application form and explanatory notes from most Post Offices. Read the application form carefully and make sure that you comply with the requirements for getting photos signed by an appropriate person
The licence usually takes just a week or two to arrive. It consists of two parts - the photocard and the paper counterpart. Any time you need to produce your driving licence you must produce both parts
If you change your name or address, you need to send in your licence to get it changed. There is normally no charge for this. If you lose your driving licence and need a replacement then you will normally be charged
If you have an International Driving Permit from overseas which lasts for one year, you will still need to get a UK provisional licence before you can take your test. Note that an International Permit only allows you to drive while you are a vistor to this country. If you have a permanent address in this country you may not normally be considered to be a vistor
If you lose your photocard just before your driving test you will not be able to take the test unless you can get a replacement before the test. If you just lose the paper "counterpart" you should be able to complete a form that the Examiner will have with him at the time of your test
When you pass your test you can apply for a full driving licence. You are advised do this straight away and must do it before a year expires. With newer licences, the Examiner may keep your provisional licence and you will automatically be sent your full licence.

Motorway Driving
When you're learning to drive you aren't allowed to drive on the motorway. This means that although you are legally permitted to drive on the motorway when you have passed your driving test, you'll have no experience of the skills needed to stay safe
Arranging some motorway experience with Weelz Driving School will help you to become a safe motorway driver, and you can do this through taking the Pass Plus course or by having some motorway driving lessons
The main subjects covered in these lessons are:
- joining the motorway safely
- learning safe speeds and distances
- how to use the motorway lane system
- use of your mirrors and general observations
- overtaking other vehicles safely
- recognising motorway signals
- getting assistance on the motorway
- leaving the motorway correctly
